In architecture we are often only concerned with the architecture itself and not the greater urban context. In a dialogue it was Peter Eisenman who commented that a theory of the urban context is central to the architectural theory itself. It is important that architects always consider integration into the urban environment is as essential to creating a work of architecture as clients, program, and the sustainability.
Another redesign in the controversial Atlantic Yards stadium proposal. However, if anyone can realize the project it is SHoP. SHoP has a proven track record of building architecture that is both cutting edge in terms of design but, creates architecture tailored to the real estate and economic markets of the time it is built in.

However, when society can no longer define itself in classically deterministic, objective terms, but only in terms of continuously shifting, fluid dynamical fields of activity, the architecture must forsake the monumental, because there is no hierarchy to valorize, no fixed authority or body of knowledge external to human experience to codify. — Lebbeus Woods, War and Architecture
Kunsthaus Gratz, the work of Peter Cook. Its hard to believe that after all these years after the publication of Archigram, Cook is still producing radical and revolutionary architecture.
sciarc just posted their summer lecture series, many great names appear on the list for the summer series. the list of names includes peter cook, perhaps my favorite architect, who is responsible for projects with archigram and kunsthaus graz. he along with lebbeus woods are probably two of the most innovative theoretical architects working today. for a full list of lectures visit sciarc’s website at www.sciarc.edu. these can also be viewed online at www.sciarc.edu/live.
